Olympic Development Program Try-out Information  2010 - 2011

TRY OUTS - PROCESS OVERVIEW:

The primary tool used by Arizona ODP for identifying and evaluating potential players is the TRY OUT PROCESS.

1. Players register at the fields for all the Tryouts that they are able to attend.
Each player is expected to attend as many Try Outs as possible to facilitate the evaluation of that player.
Tryout Fee:  $50.00 (one time fee)

2. At the first Try Out, each player is expected to arrive at the field at least 1 hour prior to the session for check-in.
The player and parent will go directly to the Check-in facility, for payment, paper work, and the player will be given an AZ ODP Try Out t-shirt.

3. T-shirt to be worn to all subsequent Try Outs and Training Sessions.

4. Bring soccer ball and water.

During the Try Out session, coaches and assistant coaches utilize various drills, activities and scrimmages to evaluate each individual player on the field. In general, they are looking for qualities such as:

1. Maturity and self-discipline
2. Sound decision-making
3. Individual skill and technical ability
4. Mental toughness
5. Leadership
6. Teamwork

After the sessions, the coaches and assistant coaches speak with the group and announcements are made with respect to the next Try Out or the announcement of the final Pool.

The final Pools will be announced on this website, under “teams”, on September, 2010. The pool will contain 40-60 players. Players may be added to the Pool during the year via Scouting Reports or Coach Recommendation.
